Coconut sugar (sometimes referred to as coco sugar, coconut palm sugar, coco sap sugar, or coconut blossom sugar) is a palm sugar made from the sap of the coconut palm’s flower bud stem.

The Kithul palm (Caryota urens), Palmyra palm, date palm, sugar date palm, sago palm, or sugar palm are all used to make palm sugar.

Coconut sugar, which is used as a sweetener in many nations, offers no nutritional or health advantages over other sweeteners. Coconut sugar is available in a variety of forms, including crystals, granules, blocks, and liquids. Coconut sugar is made in a two-step procedure. It starts with harvesting or “tapping” the flower bud stem of a coconut tree. Farmers make a cut on the spadix and the sap starts to flow from the cut into bamboo containers. The sap collected is then transferred into large woks and placed over moderate heat to evaporate the moisture content of the sap. The sap is translucent and is about 80% water.

CV. Permata Satria was established in 2017, but it has marked its heritage in this industry since 1990 under the name of UD. Subriyati which was one of the pioneers introducing coconut sugar to the local market as alternatives of white sugar and traditional block coconut sugar.

For more than 28 years, UD. Subriyati has been the local producer, collector and supplier of conventional and organic coconut sugar to leading local food and beverages manufacturers in Java island region.

Later in 2017, CV. Permata Satria was built up to reach out the modern market even wider, to speak out about organic coconut sugar, the health benefit, and consistent quality at a reasonable price.

Coconut sugar is a product of Javanese heritage, it is a natural sweetener commonly serves with the morning coffee/tea, cakes and confectionary, and even used in the daily meals in Javanese tradition for hundred years ago. This explains why the production center has been based in Central Java province especially in Banyumas region (Purwokerto, Purbalingga and Cilacap district).
